For Doctors
Hospitalist/ER-Call Coverage services:
The primary care doctors at Physicians Cooperative provide hospital services to physicians outside of our group who need hospital coverage. We are able to provide coverage for physicians with patients at St. James Hospital Chicago Heights and Olympia Fields, Advocate South Suburban, Ingalls Memorial and St. Francis Blue Island.
We offer temporary or permanent coverage for physicians who are on vacation, are reducing their hospital rounds or who would like to give up their ER-call status.
Pre-Operative Physicals:
Physicians Cooperative physicians assist surgeons by handling pre-operative physicals and the required paperwork for patients prior to surgical procedures. Ordering surgeons should send with patients any forms that need to be filled out during their physical exam. Surgeon’s offices or patients may schedule their pre-operative physical through the main appointment line at (708) 798-8112.
Procedures prior to Weight-loss Surgery:
UDHC Gastroenterologists are available to perform colonscopies in our private endoscopy suite on patients prior to bariatric surgery, gastric bypass and other weight-loss surgeries. Ordering physicians may direct patients to our main appointment line at (708) 798-8112.
Screening Colonoscopies:
Primary Care physicians should know that the American Cancer Society guidelines recommend that patients over the age of 50 have a screening colonoscopy. Medicare covers the cost of screening colonoscopies and most health insurance plans allow screening colonoscopies in average-risk patients over the age of 50.
