Instructions for your testing:

Colonoscopy Prep Sheet

24 Hours before procedure:  Start a clear liquid diet.  No solid foods.

A CLEAR LIQUID DIET.  Some suggestions include: Apple juice, soda pop, tea, popsicles, sport drinks, clear broth or bouillon, black coffee, plain hard candy.  None of these may be red or purple in color.

 

After 12:00 midnight:  NOTHING TO EAT OR DRINK

If you take medication for high blood pressure or seizures, take your medication as prescribed with only a small sip of water the morning of the procedure.  Patients that are diabetic or taking Coumadin should call our office two weeks prior to procedure.  Please call our office to consult your physician with any other medical questions.

NO ASPIRIN, ADVIL, IBUPROFEN, MOTRIN, NUPRIN OR HERBAL SUPPLEMENTS FOR TWO (2) WEEKS PRIOR TO THE PROCEDURE. Tylenol may be taken for minor pain relief.  Examples of herbal supplements as follows: St. John's Wort, Ginko, Ginseng, Garlic, Ginger, Feverfew and Kava

You will be sedated for this procedure.  Please arrange for transportation, as you will not be allowed to drive home.  You MUST have someone drive you home - no exception.

Cancellations of less than 48 hours will be charged a fee.  

Please leave all jewelry and personal belongings at home.

Enteroscopy (EGD) Prep Sheet

DO NOT EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING AFTER MIDNIGHT ON THE EVENING PRIOR TO YOUR PROCEDURE.

H-PYLORI BREATH TEST PREPARATION

4 Weeks prior to test date:

Patient must be off: Antibiotics, Bismuth medications (Pepto Bismol of generic forms)

2 Weeks prior to test date:

Patient must be off: All Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPI) which include: Prilosec, Prevacid, Aciphex, Nexium, and Carafate

***Day of test

Patient must fast for 6 hours prior to test.  This means NOTHING to EAT or DRINK

****The patient may take the following H2 blockers prior to the test:

Tagamet, Zantec, Axid, Pepcid or Pepcid Complete, Rolaids, Tums, Mylanta
